To maintain the characteristic aesthetic of rammed earth on both the interior and exterior walls, insulation is sandwiched in the inside of the walls, either in the middle, or offset slightly to the exterior. 

The combination of thermal mass and insulation result in wall performance that exceeds conventional notions of its calculated R-value for heat transfer dynamics. 

Rammed earth walls can absorb excess humidity without consequence to the integrity of the wall and release that humidity back into the living space when humidity levels drop. 

This buffering of humidity levels contributes significantly to a healthy and comfortable living environment. This results in energy and financial savings, as you will not require a humidifier or dehumidifier. 

Due to the thickness and density of a rammed earth wall, noise transmission is greatly reduced.
